Core Drilling Sydney
Concrete core drilling is a precise method used to create circular openings in concrete structures for utility installations, structural analysis, and material sampling
Core drilling which is also known as coring ranges from being an easy task to an extremely complex one. Core drilling has so many variations and applications that it is an extremely versatile way of achieving a penetration in so many different situations. From core holes for piping works for plumbers, to core holes for cables for electricians or air conditioning work. Core drilling is also a viable option to achieve a penetration in confined areas with limited space to work within, where over cutting the edges needs to be avoided.
Some examples of core drilling works in Sydney are displayed below. We have also provided details of two companies whom are experts in the field of core drilling in Sydney. Both cater for all segments of the market including residential and commercial. As such they have the equipment and experience to complete any and all core drilling that is required.
What is Core Drilling?
Diamond core drilling or "coring" is the process of drilling perfectly round holes through concrete, brick, masonry, stone, and asphalt structures such as walls, floors and ceilings
Diamond core drills can be operated in any orientation, vertical, horizontal and even inverted (upside down).
A drill bit consists of a steel tube with diamond segments silver soldered or laser welded on the drilling end. The core bits are mounted on the rotating shaft of various types of diamond drilling machines.
Most diamond drills are connected to a stand that is secured to a wall or floor with an anchor. However, suction units and other methods can be utilised.
Diamond drills can be powered by electric or hydraulic power sources. Diamond drill bits can range from 10mm to 2mtrs in diameter. Drilling depths are virtually unlimited with the use of continuous feed barrels or by using extension rods. A cylindrical slug or "core" of concrete is removed from the hole after the drilling is complete.
Stitch Drilling Opening
Stitch drilling penetration in a confined space where no over cutting was allowed.
Core Drilling In Wall
Core drilling performed at an angle through concrete wall for rock anchors.
Core Drilling Footings
Horizontal core drilling through existing footings to run sewer and storm water.
Counter-Sunk Coring
Small core used to run power. Larger core for light rebate in wall.
Inverted Drilling
Core drilling inverted hole using specialised hydraulic drilling equipment.
Large Diameter Drilling
Horizontal Core Drilling of a 750mm diameter core hole, 1 meter deep.
